Deposit limits

A deposit limit caps how much you can put into a betting account over a period you choose. It is the single most effective control most people never set.

Why set one

Because the decision to stop is much easier to make calmly, in advance, than in the middle of a losing run. A limit you set on a quiet Tuesday still applies on a bad Saturday.

How to set one

Deposit limits are set with the operator, not here — BWCanada does not hold funds or run accounts, so we cannot set or change a limit for you. In a licensed account you will normally find them under account settings, in a responsible-gambling or player-protection section.

You will usually be able to set a daily, weekly and monthly cap. A regulated operator must apply a reduction immediately, and must impose a waiting period before an increase takes effect — so lowering a limit works at once, and raising it deliberately does not.

What a limit does, and does not, do

It caps deposits. It does not cap losses, because money already in the account can still be staked, and it does not stop you opening an account somewhere else. If that is the problem you are trying to solve, a deposit limit is not the tool — self-exclusion is.

Most licensed operators also offer loss limits, session-time reminders, wager limits and short cooling-off periods that lock the account for a set number of days. These are worth setting together rather than one at a time.

If a limit is not enough

If you are raising limits repeatedly, depositing to chase a loss, or hiding what you spend, a limit is not the answer. See our page on self-exclusion, and consider free, confidential support.
